Here in Georgia, spring has definitely sprung! My garden is in full swing and I cannot wait to eat from it! Hubby and I have been working every weekend to get things going and work on our backyard at the same time. Back in February, we ordered lots of seeds from Seeds Now (they are amazing!)
We got a lot of our seeds going inside and then we had to wait.
Next on our list was plants for deck containers. I wanted to plant things that smell good, look good, and most importantly, REPEL MOSQUITOS! We have mint, lavender, lemon thyme, rosemary, and sage.
Our backyard needs
some a lot of work. My goal is to have it completed by the end of the summer. My sweet husband has been ripping out bushes and planting new things for me, but there is still a lot of work to do. Three blueberry bushes are below the deck and lemon balm is taking the place of those stupid bushes that were below the window! YES, I am planting them in their containers. Lemon balm is part of the mint family and is super invasive. This will keep it from taking over my garden!
We typically plant flowers in the front flower beds, but my sweet, darling husband put his foot down to annuals this year 🙂 There aren’t many perennials that I love, so I decided to revert back to my bug repelling strategy. I can’t wait to update the pics when everything is really grown, flowering, and beautiful! We have rosemary, lavender, bee balm, pineapple sage, garden sage, lemon thyme, and German thyme. If you like pineapple, you HAVE to get pineapple sage. When you rub the leaves, they smell exactly like pineapple. I’m thinking cocktails, am I right?
Finally, in April, we are seeing some growth! Peaches and strawberries…mama is ready for you!
